Hello, Old City! If you’ve come to this page, you’ve discovered that we are now servicing your area with our zero emission bicycle pickup service. Yay! If you already know all about us and you’re ready to sign up, scroll to the bottom of this page and go for it! If you’re not 100% sure what we do, here it is in a nutshell: we give you a 5 gallon bucket for you to fill up with your food scraps and other organic waste, you place your bucket in front of your house or apartment building once a week for us to empty out, we bring your scraps to Philly’s urban farms where we make it into compost. It’s that simple! Click here for a complete list of what can go in your bucket.
By working with us, you’re preventing your food scraps from going into landfills where they would generate methane, a greenhouse gas up to eighty times more harmful to our environment than CO2. Instead, your scraps become CO2 absorbing compost that helps reverse the effects of climate change and invigorate local soil. And the weight of your weekly trash may decrease by 50% or more!
We donate all of the finished compost we make to our urban farm partners where they use it to grow food for Philadelphians. Most of the food grown by these farms goes to food-insecure families in Philadelphia, so by signing up for our services, you’re helping feed people in your city.
If you’re a coffee shop, cafe, restaurant, or other business with a commercial kitchen, click here for a link to our tiered pricing up to five 5 gallon buckets per week. For more than five 5 gallon buckets per week, contact us for pricing.
